In her first volume in this series, you will feel like youve visited far away places as Dayle Doroshow introduces you to transfers, caning and antiquing of clay all inspired by foreign and ancient cultures. Dayle talks about where to look for shape and color inspiration; from art galleries to museums, books to fabrics.
This DVD will take the beginner through the basics and enlighten the advanced clayer with different types of transfers. Dayle also covers stamping techniques and even a simple flower cane to make beads inspired by fabrics of the Provence region. From toner copy transfers, colored pencil and even a Sharpie transfer, you will begin to see how you will find ways to use modern methods to create pieces that look as if they have been dug up from some archeological site. Shaping your shards by just running a ball of clay through your pasta machine to create rough and crusty edges is another way that Dayle gives her pieces that old world feel. And what fun it is to rub paint all over your pieces to antique them. Getting ones hands and fingers all covered in paint is something that everyone should experience! This is a great DVD for clayers interested in different types of transfers as this is what she mainly focuses on in this volume. The gallery section of Dayles work gives more inspiration as you let your mind wander to the Provence region of southern France. Submitted by Barbara Fajardo http://www.rubarbdesertdesigns.com/

Beads of Courage, a program for children coping with cancer, will now accept polymer clay beads for their program. Jean Baruch, RN says "We appreciate all donations of beads...we only request that the hole size is at least 1 mm to accommodate the stringing material we need. We are always in desperate need of purple hearts and butterfly beads."
To learn more about the program, visit http://www.beadsofcourage.net.
