This is a fun-filled day of working with polymer clay for beginners. It is held at the London Jewellery School in central London's Hatton Garden from 10-5pm and costs just £110 including all materials, expert tuition and pleanty of tea, coffee and cake! These classes are run regularly throughout the year, please see the timetable for dates.
Class Description: Polymer clay is a fantastic material and perfectly affordable for the current economic climate. It is more commonly know as fimo or sclupey and once it is heated up in an oven it hardens and can produce amazing results. In this class we will cover all the basics of working with polymer clay to make beads and finished pieces of jewellery. Some of the main techniques covered include:
- Conditioning the clay
- Caning
- Forming different shapes
- Making blends and mixing colours
- Using specialist tools and resources
- Image transfer (time allowing)
- Baking
- Sanding and Buffing and much more.
It is also very simple to carry on working with at home after the class as there are not many tools or resources needed to work with polymer clay.
You can also combine the clay with metal clay and other jewellery materials as a way of adding colour to your work. Polymer clay really has endless possibilities and is very addictive...you have been warned! There are no limits and you can create unique beads from any colour and really get creative with it.
As with all classes at the London Jewellery School, all materials are included in the cost of the class as well as plenty of tea coffee and luxury biscuits! The classes are all run by expert tutors with years of professional experience who are friendly, knowledgeable and approachable.
